The former Chief Minister and Union Minister SM Krishna has passed away at the age of 92, to honor him Karnataka government has declared a public holiday on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Biography of SM Krishna
Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna born on 1 May 1932 was an excellent Indian politician who worked for the sake of people and served as the Minister of External Affairs of India from the year of 2009 to October 2012. He served as the tenth CM of Karnataka (1999-2004) and Maharashtra’s Nineteenth Governor (2004-2008).
From Dec 1989 to Jan 1993, He was appointed as the Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha of Karnataka. He is quite popular for putting Bengaluru on the World map by building its foundation.
He was also rewarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award of India in 2023 for his public services. He devoted his entire life for the welfare of the people of the country.
